The Obelisco stands beside the #10 on the front — the 67-meter white obelisk at the intersection of Corrientes and 9 de Julio in Buenos Aires, the point the city converges when something happens. A gaucho rides below it, mounted and unhurried, the horseman of the Pampas in full dress. Upper right, a mate gourd beside the flag-filled map. A ñandú runs to the right — the Greater rhea, the large flightless bird of the Pampas and Patagonia. On the back, the Andes rise above the number in silhouette. Below the "1," two figures mid-tango: the embrace, the weight shift, the pause before the next step. Inside the zero: a Buenos Aires street in perspective — narrow, receding to a vanishing point, the architecture of San Telmo or La Boca framing the shot.
